September 8th

Vanessa Hudgens: The star of the High School Musical movies has a valid reason to be mad this week. A personal photo of her nude has found its way to the internet without her permission. It is the real deal. Hudgens, who currently dates “HSM” co-star Zac Efron, needs to get a good lawyer and nail the person responsible for putting up the picture of her that has the potential to end her relationship with the family-friendly Disney folks. The 18-year-old actress has not told reporters who betrayed her yet. Her picture is already featured on numerous blogs in American and overseas. It will be impossible for Hudgens to force everyone take it down.

Alyssa Milano: The former Charmed witch will be a bewitching addition to the cast of NBC’s comedy hit My Name is Earl. TV Guide reports that she will appear in at least three episodes of the popular show later this year. Milano will play a conjugal visitor named Samantha who catches Earl’s (Jason Lee) eye when she drops by prison to play house with one of his friends, a fellow inmate. When Earl gets closer to Samantha, he teaches her about the pros and cons of karma and how both their actions create reactions. My Name is Earl will begin its third season on Thursday, September 27.

Patrick Dempsey: The Grey’s Anatomy star known as McDreamy must be creating all kinds of headaches for the show’s producers when it comes to buying insurance. Dempsey is as passionate about his second career, car racing, as his character on the series is about a certain lady colleague. On September 15, the actor will drive a Hyper Sport Mazda RX-8 in the 45-minute Mazda MX-5 Cup “sprint” race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. He isn’t the only star who drives in the MX-5 races either. Ian Ziering and full-time racer Frankie Muniz drive in them too. Dempsey will also share driving duties at Miller Motorsports Park during the Grand-American GT class Sunchaser 1000K race. He’s as fast on the track as McDreamy is with the women in his life.

Edie Falco: Crime is heading to the NBC comedy 30 Rock this fall. Falco, who won three Emmy awards for playing Tony Soprano’s (James Gandolfini) wife on HBO’s hit mob drama The Sopranos, has signed on to appear in three episodes of NBC’s critically acclaimed comedy. The excited actress said of her first post-mob gig in series television, “I have laughed out loud at this show, and I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with such great comic actors.” NBC did not release plot details on Thursday. 30 Rock will begin its second season on October 4th (Thursday, 8:30-9 p.m. ET).

Marlo Thomas: Another multiple Emmy winner is in the casting news today. Thomas, who has won four Emmy awards in her television career so far, has been signed by the producers of ABC’s Ugly Betty to guest star in an upcoming episode as the owner of a large jewelry company who has an eye for the younger males in her life. Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius) knows that and decides that a connection with an older woman could result in a new advertiser for the magazine. The last time Thomas did guest star work on television, she was nominated for an Emmy for playing Jennifer Aniston’s mother on Friends. Ugly Betty will begin season two on Thursday, September 27 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET), on ABC.

David Duchovny: The former X-Files star’s new series, Californication, seems like it needs to be X-rated because of all the nudity and bed games the actors play out during each episode on Showtime Monday nights at 10:30pm. But hey, sex sells in the premium cable land, especially when the stars of the series, Duchovny and Natascha McElhone, are so convincing as former lovers with a child who have new people to romance and a sincere need to keep an eye out for each other and their daughter. Showtime announced that it has already renewed the series for a second season of twelve episodes. It’s a major plus for Duchovny, who seems to have put Fox Mulder in the backseat for awhile with his performance as Hank Moody, a novelist with writer’s block and a love of the ladies.

Dianne Wiest: The actress might be best known for her Oscar-winning work in Bullets Over Broadway and Hannah and Her Sisters, but that’s only to people who can walk safely in daylight. Vampires still have a score to settle with her for playing Corey Haim’s mother in The Lost Boys. It’ll be interesting to see if the nocturnal ones tune in her new series. Fox announced that she will play Parker Posey’s and Lauren Ambrose’s mother in the mid-season comedy series The Return of Jezebel James. The show centers around a successful writer (Posey) who finds out she can’t conceive a child. Wanting one badly, she convinces her sister (Ambrose) to carry a baby for her. On the down side, sis is very unfocused and has an imaginary childhood friend named Jezebel James.
